Statistical Verification of Probabilistic Long-Run Properties

چکیده
We present two new statistical algorithms for probabilistic verification of long-run properties. The algorithms use statistical sampling of execution trajectories to verify long-run properties of stochastic discrete-event systems. The algorithms differ in the techniques used to ensure that sample trajectories remain finite, but have similar time complexity. Our work is a significant improvement over a recent attempt by Sen et al. at a statistical solution method for long-run properties.

Statistical Runtime Checking of Probabilistic Properties
Probabilistic correctness is an important aspect of reliable systems. A soft real-time system, for instance, may be designed to tolerate some degree of deadline misses under a threshold. Since probabilistic systems may behave differently from their probabilistic models depending on their current environments, checking the systems at runtime can provide another level of assurance for their proba...
متن کاملProbabilistic Verification of Discrete Event Systems Using Acceptance Sampling
We propose a model independent procedure for verifying properties of discrete event systems. The dynamics of such systems can be very complex, making them hard to analyze, so we resort to methods based on Monte Carlo simulation and statistical hypothesis testing. The verification is probabilistic in two senses. First, the properties, expressed as CSL formulas, can be probabilistic. Second, the ...
متن کاملA Trust Based Probabilistic Method for Efficient Correctness Verification in Database Outsourcing
Correctness verification of query results is a significant challenge in database outsourcing. Most of the proposed approaches impose high overhead, which makes them impractical in real scenarios. Probabilistic approaches are proposed in order to reduce the computation overhead pertaining to the verification process. In this paper, we use the notion of trust as the basis of our probabilistic app...
متن کاملAutomated Analysis of Commitment Protocols Using Probabilistic Model Checking
Commitment protocols provide an effective formalism for the regulation of agent interaction. Although existing work mainly focus on the design-time development of static commitment protocols, recent studies propose methods to create them dynamically at run-time with respect to the goals of the agents. These methods require agents to verify new commitment protocols taking their goals, and belief...
متن کاملCaching Strategies for Run-time Probabilistic Model Checking
For software systems that need to adapt to their environment at run-time, run-time verification is useful to guarantee the correctness of their behaviors. Probabilistic model checking using discrete time Markov chain (DTMC) model has been applied to implement run-time verification. A current existing approach provides an efficient run-time verification mechanism by pre-generating expressions fo...
